The Knot, Industry Networking Event 2009! Now on News Stands!!

This past June I was asked to take on a BIG project! Carolyn Homestead, San Diego Executive from The Knot Wedding Network, called me and talked to me about being their premier Event Planner for their San Diego Industry Event. Without hesitation, I said, YES! It was definately an honor to be asked to do the job! First things first, getting a great team together! The event couldnt be as spectacular without all of the Fabulous vendors involved. We only had a few months to put the event together, but everyone worked hand-in-hand to make it what I had hoped it would be…FABULOUS!

The Venue: The Diamond View Tower, Downtown San Diego. Amanda McPhail was wonderful to work with, as always. She made sure we had all acoomoadations there at the venue easily accessable. Thank you Amanda! (www.diamondviewtower.com )

The Photographer: Tim Otto. Always a BLAST to work with! Easy, fun and so amazingly talented!  Thank you for all the images! (www.timottophotography.com)

Floral Decor: The Floral Department. Tricia’s creative intuition blew us all away. We all enjoyed each area that was uniquely designed to fit the function of the table. It kept the party interesting yet it added an upexpected touch of sophistication. (www.thefloraldepartment.com)

Custom Dancefloor: Platinum Pro. Can we say fabulous!?! The floor was created to mimic the current issue of The Knot Southern California Magazine! Never been done before…truly innovative! (www.platinumpro.com) Platinum Pro also provided LED Intelligent lighting~ which was later controlled to go to the beat of the music and change the mood of the room while guests partied the night away!

Catering: Authentic Flavors Catering. Yum, yum and YUM! The amazing team behind the Catering concepts were so wonderful to work with. They kept the guests coming back for more. Nothing but rave reviews the entire evening. And even more amazing, they added my Signature Chocolate Covered Strawberry Tree – greeting guests as they arrived. Another “WOW” effect! (www.sdauthenticflavors.com)

Others to Thank!: There were many other vendors that added to evening to make it so special:

Cocktails: Best Beverage Catering
Coffee Bar: EuroBar
Band: Wayne Foster Entertainment
DJ: Justin Kanoya
Photo Booth: ShutterBooth
Lounge Furniture: Lounge Appeal
Favors: Freedom Bakery and Confections, Crumb Runner
Raffle Items: Hotel Del Coronado, Bergamot Spa, US Grant, Omni Hotel

Overall, a very successful event! We also collected an abundance of  school supplies for the organization DO SOMETHING 101, that supports our local school districts! Thank you to all of you that donated! I was so proud to be apart of something so great!

The event has been published in this months Southern California Knot Magazine, now on News Stands! And, on the web at The Knot.com

A Fabulous start to the 2010 New Year!

Mandy and Scott June 6, 2009

My recent beach wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado. Mandy and Scott were such a delight- more photos to come, but here is a great slideshow by Darin Fong. He is so talented! :) And OF COURSE, my favorite gal; Karen Tran of Karen Tran Florals was the mastermind behind the beautiful decor. How could you go wrong when using her, she is absolutely fabulous! We also had Platinum Pro there to provide us with an amazing White Custom Dancefloor with personalized decal that matched the programs, placecards, and Menus. It was beautiful, and definately made such a statement in the Reception. After all, it is the BIGGEST piece of decor in the room! Why not make it a focal point!
Thanks to all of the vendors that made this day so special: Stephanie Zaren from the Hotel Del, Justin Kanoya -MY FAVORITE DJ! and Arizona based photographer- Andy Andrews – did the Photography for the day- cant wait to see those!!
Thank you all! So glad to have my “A team” there!

US Grant Wedding Showcase!

On April 19th, I had the honor of joining a great team of vendors to Showcase our talents for a Wedding Showcase, at the beautiful US Grant Hotel. Ed Kutch, Catering Manager made it all possible for my team to be apart of such a Great event! A BIG Thanks to Ed for inviting us to be apart of such a Fabulous Showcase! There were so many talented vendors (Coordinators, Florists, Event Production Companies, Photographers, Cake artists, etc) involved showcasing their beautiful work and creative ideas. I felt so honored to be amongst so many talented colleagues. I personally teamed with Platinum Pro and Karen Tran florals for our Booth. Platinum Pro is an all-inclusive event production company specializing in their One-of-a-Kind, Custom, Seamless, Dancefloors. They Displayed a beautiful Chocolate Brown Dancefloor with the US Grants Logo on it.  At the Platinum Pro booth, our ideas collaborated into an ALL White Masterpiece- Karen Tran seriously OUT DID herself in what I thought was one of the Best booths there! (Ok, I’m a bit bias, but seriously!) It was truly spectacular. An All White Orchid curtain (which is now becoming one of her wedding staples- lucky brides!) was an amazing backdrop- with hanging crystals to catch the white lighting that PP provided. We also had a White Lounge Area that was surrounded by floating candles, a fuzzy rug, and orchids submerged in water. Very Mod! We are so lucky to have captured this event on film! Suzanne Hansen brilliantly captured amazing footage for us- we were so thankful to have such a talented photographer there! What a Fabulous event it was- we are SO excited to have been apart of it! (THANK YOU ED!!) Special Thanks:  Trent and the entire Platinum Pro team, awesome dancefloors!; Karen Tran Florals- amazing as usual; Suzanne Hansen- Beautiful Images; Ed Kutch and the US Grant team-Great Event!

Hotel Del Coronado Beach Wedding

Hotel Del Beach Wedding: this was such a lovely, intimate affair. I always love to work with gracious brides. Christy was definitely one I will always remember. She wanted a simple but chic wedding. Keeping with some traditions but fitting for a group of 8 people. The Hotel Del Coronado destination Beach wedding was perfect! Stephanie Zaren, as always was so wonderful to work with at the Hotel! Their dinner reception took place also onsite at the hotel at 1500 Ocean. An intimate but beautiful tablescape designed by the one and only Karen Tran.  Thank you to all of you- this was such a great way to start the wedding season! And Congratulations to Christy and Kirk!

Fabulous Wedding at the Lodge Torrey Pines

San Diego has so many beautiful places to be married. We are so lucky to have such different options to suite each Bride and Groom. From Tropical Chic to Secret Garden and Lavish Estates.  One of my favorite locations to work here in San Diego (where the Catering and Conference gals are SO FABULOUS) is The Lodge at Torrey Pines. So romantic and cozy. Dark woods walls, fire places, large Pine trees. You actually feel like you are at a lodge in the mountains. I had the privilege of doing Susan and Don’s wedding there last year. What a great wedding it was. They wanted a more modern approach to the decor (provided by Karen Tran Florals). Red, Black and White was the theme for the event. Very fitting for their Punk/Rocker lifestyle :) . They even had a Custom Black and White Dancefloor and their names custom made in Red! (Dancefloor provided by Platinum Pro) And let me tell you, she ROCKED it on that dancefloor to a little Michael Jackson!

Fabulous Bride and Groom…Fabulous Location… Fabulous Food… Fabulous Music… Fabulous Decor- Now thats what I call a FABULOUS WEDDING!

Colorful Beachside Wedding

What a fantastic wedding this was. Recently seen in San Diego Bride and Groom magazine. The bride (Amy) was such a fun-loving gal. Full of creativity and spirit. I loved working with her. Amy wanted her wedding to be different and unique. She wanted it to make a statement. Her beachside wedding was located at the beautiful and historic Hotel Del Coronado. Catering Manager, Michelle Larson was such a pleasure as always to work with! For Amy and Matt, it was all about the details and entertainment. She wanted bold bright colors and nothing to be mono-chromatic. It blended beautifully to her and her fiances style. At rehearsal the bridal party showed up in 70’s attire, with retro clothing, and accessories. I knew that the Wedding Day was going to be a PARRRTTYY! We had steal drums. A Live Event artist painting the ceremony and reception. Face Painter for the kids. A magician. A Juggler. Lounge Furniture and lighting (www.platinumpro.com). The Beautiful and lush floral decor was provided by Karen (of Karen Tran Florals).   Look how adorable the Flower Girls baskets were! So cute!  And the CAKE: this cake was flown in from New York! Custom made and hand painted by Margaret Braun. Pretty fantastic!  And you think we had enough entertainment?? Nope! We even had a surpise visit from  ”Marilyn Monroe”! What a treat to have her sing Happy Birthday to both the Bride and the Groom!  This is wedding that will go down in History for its unique flare and definately Details Details Details!! Thank you Jennifer for  your beautiful photography (www.jenniferdery.com)- it definitely captured the day beautifully!

Its like Rain on your Wedding Day….

For most brides and grooms, having rain on their wedding day would definately put a damper on the mood of the wedding. However for this San Diego Destination Wedding, Colin and Melissa couldn’t have been more happy to get married- rain or shine! They were absolutely the most loving couple. I was quite humbled by their sincereness and love for not only each other but their friends and family that surrounded them. The story of Colin and Melissa is quite unique in itself. They met in Military school and both have generations of family in the Military. Melissa is now an officer in the Navy and serves on the Green Bay; which is now docked here in San Diego. (Hence the reason they wanted to Wed in San Diego). Melissa’s father actually was one of the Engineers that created the Green Bay and spent most of his career designing the ship. It is actually a pretty amazing that his daughter now serves on it. Colin, also a Military Engineer, is now in the reserves servicing San Diego. San Diego is so lucky to have such wonderful Military Service Men and Women-and I felt so honored to be apart of this beautiful day.  That being said- they wanted nothing else but to be married on a Ship! Of Course! I researched the different possiblities we have to offer here in San Diego and found San Diego Harbor Excursions to be what we were looking for. The feel for the wedding day was similar to what you would experience being on ‘Titanic’. Old Romance. Karen Tran- San Diego Florist did an amazing job interpreting that into the floral design. Huge Pillar candles with lush floral centerpieces filled the tables. Each table was named after a specific Historic Boat (and Yes! The Green Bay was one of them) and on the back side of each table name was a description of the vessel and how it served its purpose. The guests seated at each table were then asked to write a special note to the Bride and Groom.  As I mentioned before- this particular Saturday in Febuary it rained. Not just a drizzle – it POURED!!! And it didnt let up. So being the quick thinker I am; my staff and I moved the HUGE Floral Altar Pieces down to the second level (the wedding was supposed to be on the top level outside). I was really disapointed at first; I really wanted the photos of our couple outside. I noticed that on the second level there is a small portion of the deck outside that is covered…small enough to allow a Bride, a Groom, and a Chaplin marry outside but out of the rain! Bingo! The guests watched through the open double doors as it poured down rain. Just as they were announced Husband and Wife; the rain let up (just for a minute) and a Rainbow appeared! It was breath taking! And of course; our FABULOUS photographer Boyd Harris captured the amazing view. (With, of course, the Coronado Bridge and the Green Bay Ship behind them).  What a spectatular day it was. The Bride and Groom were so thrilled and the evening continued with wonderful food and a Fantastic DJ (Justin Kanoya) to party the night away while floating along our beautiful Bay.  At the end of the evening – and YES! – it was still raining…My wonderful assistant Lauren stood in the Pouring rain(and was drenched!) and held an umbrella over Boyd so he could capture our Bride and Groom driving away in a Vintage Rolls Royce. That evening they stayed at the historic Hotel Del Coronado.

Annie and John Cheerful Wedding at Hotel Del Coronado

I just love bright colorful flowers, It’s cheerful and uplifting.  It’s twice as nice when you have the sweetest couple to go along with it.  Annie and John’s wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado was super sweet! Thanks to Farrah Lauren (Catering Manager) everything onsite was fantastic! The staff there at the Hotel are always so on top of everything! Makes my job so much easier! :)

This young energetic couple were bubbly the whole day.  I did not see one person without a smile on their face the entire wedding.  Everyone was so happy and it was definitely contagious!  The vibrant flowers and decor carried out by {Karen Tran Florals} was sensational.  I love the apple green cymbidium orchids that were used throughout this wedding and the gorgeous Gazebo decor was a show stopper.  {Darin Fong} once again captured the details perfectly!
