The Royal Wedding: William + Kate *My Recap*

If you were one of the BILLIONS of people that watched as Kate and Prince William wed today, you will agree that the wedding was spectacular! Surpassed all expectations! I was not old enough to know or remember Princess Diana and Prince Charles wedding day. So in preparing for this “BIG DAY”, I had only the visions of their wedding photos to compare to. BUT, after watching this morning as all of the events unfolded, nothing could really prepare you to understand the magnitude of magnificent event! REALLY! Its not everyday that we get to experience first hand (As a Nation, Country, as a culture, as a WORLD!) a TRUE love story! It was history in the making. As a professional of all things wedding, I was completely enamored with all things ROYAL WEDDING! So here’s my *Re-Cap*:

The Engagement: {Style:} Simple and Classic;  colors and accessories minimal, so that the only thing that really stands out is her engagement ring, one of the most spectacular engagement rings!

The Wedding Day: Processional

I loved watching Prince William and Prince Harry process in. I dont know how many noticed as he “shook his hands” in nervousness, rubbing them together, as the world watch him enter the Abby. It was precious and real, showing so much emotion in just a small gesture. As a mother of 2 boys, this made me tear up. You know that on a day like today, he would of loved nothing more than to have his Mum there with him to share. The procession continues…

The moment we are waiting for: Kate’s Wedding Day Style!

Princes Di was iconic for her Gown, her Style, her hair…so I anticipated that Kate too, would also share in these expectations. And she did not let me down! She stayed true to herself, however. Nothing “over the top”or show-boating.  Classy, Eleganant, and Understated would be words I would use to describe her Wedding Day Style. Her gorgeous Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen Lace gown was one to swoon over! As she stepped out of the car, and we all saw her gown for the first time, it was breath-taking! Many compared her to Grace Kelly (see photo below).  Although her style was much more understated than Princess Diana, her demur composure and delicate details made her Regal.

Here is the Style “low-down”:  The Gown: Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, the lace appliques were hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework and also has hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace detailing. The body of the dress is ivory and white satin gazar. The train is 70 centimeters long!! The Veil was ivory silk tulle trimmed with embroidered flowers (also sewn by the Royal School of Needlework). The “Halo” Tiara: made by Cartier in 1936 for Queen Elizabeth II, her something “borrowed”. The Earings: by Robinson Pelham; pear shaped diamond drops with a pave set diamond center. Her Hair: pulled back in the front (supporting the gorgeous halo) with soft curls in the back. Not to distract for the details of her dress. Her Makeup: yes, its true! She did her own makeup!! (Crazy girl!) She said it was important for her to feel natural but still reflect the occasion. The Bouquet: consisted of- Lilly of the Valley =  Sweetness and renewed Happiness, Sweet William Flowers = Gallantry, Hyacinths = consistancy of love, and Myrthe = the emblem of love and marriage (and fun fact: every Royal Bride since Queen Victoria has had a sprig in her bouquet!) I think this bouquet is perfect for royal wedding. It perfectly matches the dress and is stunning in its simplicity. I will definitely discuss it with our Enchanted Florist in Pasadena TX. I want to hear her professional opinion.

The Procession Continues with all the sweet  children, and leading them Catherine’s sister, Pippa.

And Now: the Groom to see his Bride!

THEY ARE WED!! You may Kiss your Bride! (in front of Billions of on-lookers! :))

Price William Duke of Cambridge and Her Royal Highness Catherine Dutchess of Cambridge

The Recessional:

The Reception: Complete with another GORGEOUS Dress change (also by Sarah Burton), the gentlemen in double-breasted Tux’s and 8 tier wedding cake (by Fiona Cairns)!

Marissa + Danny Estancia, La Jolla

Every year, I really count my blessings! I feel I have the best clients one could ask for! You can always catch me saying “Oh, I just love that bride!”. But its not just the bride and groom I LOVE … Its also the great vendors that all work so hard to make the day so great and at the end the Bride and Groom are so thrilled, Im thrilled, the Venue is thrilled…Its one fantastic event.

Well, this is how I felt about Marissa and Danny’s wedding day! Marissa works for theknot.com, so when hiring me ,I was (to say the least) SO NERVOUS! I wanted to do a perfect job for her, and meet all of her expectations. She came to me with some frustrations in planning, but we were able to really listen to what she wanted and execute it to a day she could call a fairy tale. We brought on some fabulous vendors (which we will attribute later) that all came together on this beautiful summer day to make it an event all enjoyed! The Estancia, La Jolla, is such a gorgeous property. So serene, and fung shwy. A beautiful spot for a union. And might I add, GORGEOUS for photographs!

The Getting Ready:

Gorgeous Bride!

Doing a “First Look” is always great, a special time and moment when the bride and groom get to see each other for the first time (before walking the aisle) and have some time to themselves. Such a great time for photos too! (Your not crying (yet!), your hair/makeup is still great, and calms the nerves before walking the aisle!) Although, I would call myself a traditionalist:)when it comes to most things “Wedding” … Doing a First Look is always a plus!!

The Ceremony:  In Jewish tradition, the Bride and Groom, their families, and the Rabbi actually do a ceremony before in a private and intimate space. It is here that the bride and groom sign their Ketubah and the Rabbi blesses the couple.  The Ketubah, for those that dont know Jewish tradition, is the Jewish marriage contract that explains the legal terms of marriage as well as the grooms obligations (financially) to his bride. Next comes the actual processional (The bride brought down the aisle by her parents to wed under the Chuppah).

The Reception: Marissa is a girly girl! She loved delicate and whimsical details! And her pallet lent itself to being just that! The soft pink and gray with champagne really made for a romantic setting for her guests to dine. Natasha, from Classic Creations, did an amazing job creating the vintage and whimsical look that Marrisa invisioned. And A Perfect Table made gorgeous custom linens for Marissa’s head table! (LOVED THEM!!) Although the traditions, emotions and romance of it all was a huge part of their wedding day experience, they were ALL also ready to PARTY!!! (like all bridal parties!!) The Custom Dancefloor provided by Platinum Pro was a perfect spot to do so! Nothing better than an exquisite setting, Great Food, awesome music to make it a FABULOUS PARTY!

Contributing Factors:

Thank you to all of the fabulous vendors: Estancia~ La Jolla, Natasha – Classic Creations, Platinum Pro (Dancefloor and Lighting), A Perfect Table, VOX DJ’s, Edelweiss Bakery, and of course Aaron Feldman from True Photography for all the gorgeous photographs!!

AND CONGRATULATIONS MARISSA AND DANNY!! We were thrilled to share in this special Day!
